Cotswold League Round 2

Norton Radstock played host to Bristol Penguins, Southwold B and Minehead for the second round of the Cotswold Series. In a close competition, Norton Radstock came second and scored a useful 143 league points.

Sarah Britton set a new Club Record in the 100m Backstroke, beating a record that had stood for 16 years. There were also five Personal Bests set.

The 13/u Boys were the most successful, having a clean sweep of all the races in their age group. Martin Lenihan and Tim Inns each won two individual races and were joined by George Beechener, Seb Craig and Matthew Whatley to win their relays. Tim also won two further races for the 15/u boys, where Ben Bicknell also won the Freestyle and Jack Walker set a new PB gaining a close second in the Backstroke. The 11/u Boys also had a great night, with four firsts and two seconds from their six races. Freddie Lenihan and Liam Wilcox each won a first and a second individual, with Jack Barter and Sam Church helping them to success in the relays. For the men’s team, James Harvey set a PB in Freestyle, Nick Britton came second in both IM and Backstroke and Jake Atkins was second in the Fly.

The Girls groups gave consistent results with solid point scoring. In the 11/u girls, a first and a second place went to Hannah Brooks-Scully and a second to Mary Inns. Alice Bowden came second in the 13/u age group. She also achieved another second place for the 15/u group along with Sammie Chivers in the Breaststroke and Saskia Mead in the Butterfly and Freestyle. Saskia and Alice also set new PBs. In the Open age group, Sarah Britton and Karli Sawyer both came second in their individual races.
