Victory in First Round of the Winter Series

Norton Radstock travelled to Sherborne to record a win in the opening round of the Winter Series against Wellington, Wincanton, Cheddar and Minehead. In a close contest with Wellington, Norton Radstock eased to victory with some good wins in the last quarter of the gala. Three Club Records were broken: Mary Inns in the Breaststroke, Tim Inns in the Butterfly and Sarah Britton in the Backstroke. There were also 11 Personal Bests set.  Two swimmers, George Hobbs and Connie Glover, were making their team debuts and were both part of successful relay teams.

The team was very consistent, winning 23 of the 51 races, and there was an excellent team spirit. When there are so many good individual performances it is not possible to list everyone, but a special mention should be made for Callum Ford, Molly and Jack Barter, Hannah Brooks-Scully and Tim Inns, who won all their individual races, and especially Liam Willcox, who not only won all his races in his age group but also helped the two relay teams in the older age group to victory.

The Gala was well organised by Wincanton SC and, as usual, a large number of Norton Radstock supporters made the trip and provided plenty of noise. The next round of the Winter Series is at Wellington on 14th November.
